Yokuzu

The Yokuzu Clan (ヨクズ, Yokodzuna Ichizoku) is a clan that originated in the Land of Sound. It was founded before the Second Shinobi War by Eiri Yokuzu , the First Sound Elder (最初長老, Shoshinsha). The Yokuzu Clan are known for their aptitude in Sound Release and Vibration Release.

Background[]

In opposition to the Five Great Shinobi Countries (忍び五大国, Shinobi Godaikoku), the Yokuzu Clan struggled but managed to be economically and politically independent for generations. This led to a fragile relationship between the Five Great Countries and the Yokuzu. Unfortunately, this relationship would never be completely mended. In the period before the Third Shinobi War, Kinji Yokuzu, the Second Sound Elder (二番長老, Nishinsha), sought to establish an economic relationship with the Land of Fire. However, this negoation was never finalized. After this diplomatic failure, the Yokuzu extended their policy of isolation.

Ancestry[]

The Yokuzu Clan share a common heritage with the Fūma Clan of the Land of Sound. This common ancestry between the Fūma and the Yokuzu connect the latter to the foundation of Otogakure. However, this commonality has not resulted in any diplomatic advancements between them. Veritably, the close proximity between Otogakure and the Yokuzu led to increased tension and hostility over time.

Current Affairs[]

Otogakure has managed to strategically deprive the Yokuzu of their economic influence in the Land of Sound. It was an inevitable consequence of Gōkuni Tei-Kyoku, but the repercussions were felt throughout the Yokuzu Clan. Ultimately, Ai Yokuzu , the Fourth Sound Elder (四音長老, Shisha), was wrongfully accused of dutiful negligence. In order to restore the Yokuzu and her reputation, Ai made an agreement with her acquaintance, the Daimyō of the Land of Whirlpools, Athos Raikon. In an attempt to resuscitate the weakened Yokuzu Clan, Ai attained ownership of Saiken (犀犬, Saiken) from the Daimyō. Athos, in exchange for the Bijū, demanded the loyalty of the Yokuzu and information on Vibration Release. In the subsequent months, the once proud Yokuzu Clan were forced to relocate from their ancestral home into the southern section of Otogakure.
