Bijuu and Jinchuuriki

The nine tailed beasts.

The tailed beasts (尾獣, bijū), sometimes referred to as "Chakra Monsters" (チャクラのバケモノ, Chakura no Bakemono), are the nine titanic living forms of chakra created by the Sage of Six Paths. They are differentiated by the number of tails they have, ranging from one to nine.

History

Long before the founding of the hidden villages, the Sage of Six Paths saved the world by sealing the Ten-Tails into his body, becoming its jinchūriki. Sometime later, the Sage was inspired by his youngest son, Asura, to use his Creation of All Things ability to divide the Ten-Tails' chakra into nine living entities, what would become the tailed beasts. The Sage named the nine and explained to them that a link existed between them despite their separation. He also foretold of a day when they would be brought together again — though not as they were — and that at that time someone would emerge to show them what true power is. After the Sage's death, the tailed beasts drifted apart, apparently due to Kurama's belief that their number of tails was an indication of their strength. The tailed beasts were originally created not only to prevent the Ten-Tails' resurrection, but also to maintain and balance peace. The first person to come close to their original usage was Hashirama Senju, who had captured several of the tailed beasts with his Wood Release, distributed the beasts amongst the new villages in order to stabilize the balance of power between them. However, Hashirama's usage of the tailed beasts were forceful rather than earning their willful cooperation. This method would be realized in Hashirama's successor as Asura's reincarnation, Naruto Uzumaki.

Over the centuries, humanity failed to recognize the tailed beasts as sapient individuals, instead seeing them only as monsters, demons, or mindless beasts worthy of fear and disdain. Because of their immense power, the tailed beasts were sought out by humans to be used as weapons in times of war. The beasts resented this treatment and came to hate humans, at times willingly becoming the monsters they were viewed as. In order to harness the beasts' power, the villages began sealing them into humans, creating their own jinchūriki.

Abilities

Tailed Beast Balls

The tailed beasts performing their signature technique.

Tailed beasts are widely believed to be bestial in nature, incapable of the intelligence needed to fully utilize their immense strength. It is thought that only when sealed within humans are they able to benefit from the knowledge of their jinchūriki to use their powers effectively. This is not actually true. However, the Ten-Tails does tend to make wanton use of its powers, not focusing its abilities towards whatever end would be most advantageous to it until sealed into a jinchūriki.

Each of the tailed beasts have their own unique abilities, but they all share the same attributes: they have massive quantities of powerful chakra - colored red - far greater than what most shinobi have, can easily transfer their chakra to whomever they choose, and can use the Tailed Beast Ball. Because the tailed beasts are pure chakra, they cannot actually be killed; if they or their jinchūriki die, their chakra will re-coalesce in time. In addition, if a large portion of a tailed beast's chakra is separated from it, that chakra becomes a separate, sentient copy of the tailed beast.

Tailed beasts can communicate telepathically with one another and their jinchūriki, and possess several levels of consciousness. In the initial level, the beast appears to be in a habitat of sorts, typically imprisoned in some way by whatever fūinjutsu was used to seal them. The second level is where all the tailed beasts can convene and communicate with one another, free of any restrictions. Jinchūriki are also able to enter this level, but in order to do so, they must be completely linked with their tailed beasts.

Jinchūriki

The jinchūriki (人柱力; Literally meaning "Power of Human Sacrifice") are humans that have Tailed Beasts sealed within them. They exhibit extraordinary powers, and in some cases are more powerful than their tailed beasts, because they have the intelligence to use the beasts' powers effectively.

The jinchūriki are typically lonely people, viewed by those around them as the tailed beasts that had been sealed within them, leading to prejudice and being hated and feared. According to Akatsuki, the first two jinchūriki they captured loathed humanity, and their villages were in fact glad to be rid of them. However, some jinchūriki refuse to waver, even though they have been shunned, and they eventually earned respect. Such examples are Naruto, Killer B, and the most prominent being Gaara.

Rules and Guidelines

Disclaimer: Please note that these rules are agreed upon by the members of Shinobi Legends as is deemed fitting for the current state of the game, and as such are subject to change if noteworthy cause (or simply better ideas) presents itself. Thus while initial course of action is to follow them, in case of issues/disagreements arising they should either be messaged to a mod who will then forward them to the "all-that-is-bijuu" channel of the SL discord server, or posted there yourself directly.

Discord Account Clause

A host/summoner must create a Discord account if they don't have one already, and join the SL server. (official one)

They must also fill out their section on the Tailed Beasts Challenge Preferences page under the name of their bijū with the following items:

  • Preference for battle
  • List of challengers
  • Indication of grace period (start and end)

Post any notices of absence in the Discord server channel #all-that-is-bijuu. In case of inability to do so, have someone else (preferably a mod) forward the message for you. This applies to both hosts/summoners, and challengers in active battles.

Challengers are also required to have a Discord account and join the SL server.

After the grace period of a host/summoner expires, a challenger can approach them for a fight. While PM on SL is primary method, in case of no response contact should also be attempted on discord first, before further proceedings.

After terms of the battle have been agreed upon, the list of them should be delivered to either discord or the primary judge.

Challenging a Host

You cannot challenge any host until after their twenty one (21) day grace period is over.

You should check the discord biju channel regularly to keep up to date on things.

For a challenge to be valid, you must have attempted contact on discord as well if SL PM for some reason failed. In either case, please either post of it on discord after or ask a mod to do so for you, to avoid conflicts.

You and the host/summoner have one (1) week to set up and begin the match. In case of credible reason this may be extended, but the judge must be told both parties agreed more time was needed. If things start dragging on even after, unsolved issues are delivered to judge and after their ruling on them the fight begins.

Should the challenger go unresponsive during challenge proceedings for 7 days (or however long possible extension is), the host/summoner is free to consider it a forfeit and they may not be challenged again by the person for 3 months.

After the fight begins, each party has to post once every 7 days unless a judge ruling or notified absence is underway. A demand for repost without judge intervention extends this to 10 days, but has to be noted in the battle where it is to happen. Whichever party exceeds the limit without justified cause will be deemed the loser, and are barred from new challenges against the other for 3 months. Only exception to this is if the host/summoner is victorious, but agrees to fight the challenger again sooner.

A 3 month ban from challenging the same host/summoner is also in place in case of an ordinary loss or a voluntary forfeit. Be it this or above reasons, the 3 months will begin from the moment the loss/forfeit/strip/etc is declared.

In case of an OOC challenge, the host/summoner is free to use their beast in IC matters meanwhile, until/if they lose.

Activity Clause

Hosts/Summoners must make an RP post in public once every twenty-one (21) days while not engaged in an active challenge. This does not include sannin level or higher fighting zones, nor dwellings. During challenges, a post elsewhere does also not count towards activity in the battle.

Host/Summoner who does not meet the 21 day timeline without absence notice, are open to no-questions-asked strip by the first person who desires the beast, if the "dibs" is called before the Host/Summoner can post again.

In case both host/summoner and challenger fail battle activity, the beast goes to whoever was next in line on challenger list, or first person calling "dibs" in absence of such.

Mastering a Bijū Clause

If a host is deemed to have gone over their mastery for any reason during the match without provable permission by the challenger, the challenger is to ask a judge of it. If the judge agrees, the match is a loss for the host."

Although the biju's passive ability is obtainable upon sealing, its maximum power is dependent on mastery of the beast.

Mastery will occur in four (4) stages consisting of three (3) weeks each, with the 75% mastery stage allowing the host to access partial transformations. Partial transformations are limited to 2 limbs or a 25% unified area of the body at maximum.

25% - grants access to C ranked jutsu in the beast's passive ability. The host has access to the tailless Jinchūriki Form.

50% - grants access to B ranked jutsu in the beast's passive ability. The host has access to the Version 1 Cloak, as well as rudimentary chakra mode in case of a sufficient relationship or domination of the beast (e.g. Naruto's non-haori form).

75% - grants access to A ranked jutsu in the beast's passive ability. The host has access to the Version 2 Cloak. They are also now capable of partial transformations, including whether to spawn the skeleton in V2 cloak or not.

100% - grants access to S ranked jutsu in the beast's passive ability. Due to perfected link with their beast, the host can now fully transform into their beast and create tailed beast bombs. A possible chakra mode may also now be perfected.

Bijū Summons Clause

The Summoner will be branded with a tattoo which acts as their connection to their bijū for bringing it forth. The tattoo will also give off a constant chakra signature that may not be suppressed by any means, matching the beast it is linked to. Same restrictions against metagaming during a hunting event apply, as when going after a host.

In the case of enslaved Edo Tensei beast summoners, whenever said ET are not summoned outside their storage in active use, the beast chakra signatures their tattoos would normally give off are temporarily moved to emanate from the ET's summoner him-/herself.

Bijū cost 20% of the user's total (not current) chakra to summon, and can not be regained until/if the beast is dismissed or forcibly dispersed.

Any beast that has not been provably befriended over a lengthy period, will require a powerful method of control (genjutsu, rinnegan rods, etc.) to keep in check. Should this method be removed, the beast has to be resubdued within 2 posts by the summoner or it will disappear. Even in the case of a befriended beast however, due to lack of mastery receiving or absorbing chakra from them in any manner is impossible.

Summoners are restricted to two (2) actions per post, be it offensive or defensive so long as the bijū is summoned. These are however limited to only one (1) each for both summoner and beast.

Biju controlled by force will wreak havoc until resubduing or disappearance if freed from said control. During this time they will either be controlled by the summoner and the attempt evaluated by the judge, or controlled by the judge, depending on what summoner and challenger agreed upon"

Upon death of the summoner, the tattoo will automatically transfer to the one who killed them, directly or otherwise. Otherwise the transfer happens as both parties agree. Regardless of method, in the process any possible fuuinjutsu or other kind of markers the previous summoner are erased without exception."

Judging a Match

Both parties must agree upon a judge before battle begins.

If a judge delivers a verdict one party will not agree with, a second judge both agree on is chosen. Their second opinion will be final decision of the issue no matter what, and they will remain as judge for rest of the match. No third judge can be chosen.

If a second judge has been chosen and delivers a verdict both parties do not agree to without credible cause, both will be considered to have forfeit and banned from all beast matters for 3 months. The beast itself will go to next challenger, or whoever asks firsts in absence of none.

Attempts to commit fraud will be punished. By asking for a blatantly biased judge, if the actual attempt is made both yourself and they will be perma banned from all things bijuu. Either party lying about possessing things / abilities they do not actually have, could not possibly have, will also result in automatic disqualification and 3 month ban of all things bijuu.

Stripping a Host

If you fail to uphold normal activity when not in a battle and have your biju claimed by another, you will >not< suffer a 3 month ban and may attempt a challenge or the likes as soon as your schedule allows.

In case of inactivity but another player either knows or suspects something the host/summoner may not have been able to inform of is going on, either posting of this on discord or asking a mod to forward the knowledge may grant grace time to attempt sorting the issue if deemed necessary. After this time if nothing changes, first come first serve can issue a strip.

In the event that a host/summoner is stripped during a match, the beast goes to the current challenger. Directly passing it to someone else before grace period expires will incur 3 month ban from all things bijuu.

In the event of conflict over who a stripped beast goes to next, whoever can provide evidence of the earliest time of challenge on discord (or for a mod to forward onto discord) takes precedence. Otherwise the disputing parties will battle each other, and winner receives the beast.

General Information

The maximum number of Bijuu a player is allowed to capture and hold onto is no more than three (3). They can not be on the same character, rather are limited to either one (1) hosted or one summonable.

Edo tensei, be they free or not, can only be summoners, not hosts. The above numerical limitations also apply. In case of non-free edos, they must have either a separate character account on the site itself, or a profile page on the wiki detailing at least the basic information about them on the wiki; purely information-less NPCs will not be allowed.

If the owner of non-free edos is a host/summoner themselves, only 1 summon beast at once may be brought out. For balancing reasons they will also be allowed only one (1) action total.

Using Telescope Technique to circumvent the quest of seeking out any Jinchūriki is not permitted. The same applies any other method that is unreasonably powerful, or borders on or flat out is metagaming. other loophole attempts such "coincidentally" beginning your search right next to the target without reason, "accidentally" searching from the exact right direction, will not be allowed either. any conflicts can be be brought / forwarded to discord and solved there, if parties fail to solve it themselves.

The challenger list of the former host/owner is inherited by the new host/owner of a bijuu. Despite this you are still entitled to the 21 day grace period before discussions for next battle are to begin, unless you choose to skip the waiting time. Do bear in mind however that the skip will not grant the mastery level waiting the time would give otherwise.

A beast may be gifted without a ban if you wait out the grace period, though this will not grant the new owner a grace period, rather they can be challenged immediately. Additionally this does not take precedence over challengers even if you decided the gifting in advance. Thus if someone challenges you before the time is up, you will have to deal with them first.

Tailed beasts can not be split in two such as kuramas ying-yang halves, so a large "main" body will always remain. Their chakra may be divided or otherwise gifted in IC matters, but unless both parties explicitly agree to it any such powers/abilities will be considered voided in official challenge battles. Acknowledgement of these in IC matters otherwise is similarly up to the individual. Attempts to kill a beast permanently or send off into space or another dimension will also not work; the beast will simply be considered lost to the person and reform later.
