After she turned 18, Reiha Amekaze (雨風伶羽, Amekaze Reiha) left her home and traveled the world to offer her aid, specifically her ability to control the weather, to people who need it. She is a Jōnin of Kumogakure.

When she was still a young girl, Reiha had always been the headstrong, independent one. She often insists that she can do any task given to her and emphasizes that females can be on par with males. Quite the optimist, she always sees the good things in everything despite how bad situations are and faces them with a big grin. She was a bundle of energy and people can have a hard time catching up to her.

While age has made her a bit more refined, she continued to show her cheerful expression while gaining a slight mischievous streak to her. It makes others think twice whether Reiha is joking or not, but most of the time, she is is not. Surprisingly, the young woman can give out sound advice, perhaps it was the result of studying under the religious priests and priestesses back at her home; however, she is known to be a rule-breaker back then.

She can be very patient and controls herself from throwing the first punch, but it does not mean that she cannot fight. Reiha can very much defend herself; she has trained with the sword and is well-versed in ninjutsu and genjutsu, though she has exceptional skills in fūinjutsu. When she wins, she is humble though she teases her male opponents a bit by saying that she, a girl, can beat men like them.

However, this positive, light-hearted attitude is merely a facade for the pained soul hiding beneath the smile; Reiha experienced abuse before and it was something she cannot easily forget. All she can do was mask it and hide it from the world.

Appearance

Reiha stands at five feet and five inches, having a lithe frame with just enough muscle. She has the signature amethyst eyes of her clan and wavy, almost messy dark blue tresses that reach up to her shoulders, which was said that she got from her mother. Her skin is like that of a porcelain doll's, flawless and near-white, though beneath the clothes and hidden from the eyes of most people, her back is littered with scars from being whipped in the past. She also has a beauty mark under her left eye. A summoning seal is tattooed on her right wrist.

She opts to wear anything comfortable and her father often tells her that her choice of clothing was sloppy when she was at home. White shirts and loose cotton pants would do for Reiha when she is not doing anything and would even go barefoot if she has to. However, she has other more appropriate and fashionable items within her wardrobe. Her kunoichi attire consists of a short skirt, powder blue kimono with sleeves that are several inches longer than her arms, a netted shirt for inner wear, dark blue shorts, high-heeled sandals and fingerless gloves. She always keep a holster strapped to her left thigh, carrying several customized scrolls.

She also has a miko attire which is white with dark blue accents. Along with this, she wears a black beaded necklace and wraps several prayer beads around her left wrist. She wears the traditional zori but chooses not to wear tabi socks with them.

History

開始, Kaishi

Masanori Amekaze, a young man from Kumogakure, fled from a group of thieves when he and his group were sent on a mission to retrieve a delivery in the Land of Fire. The criminals ambushed them and have killed off his companions, leaving him to fight them all alone. Weakened by the wounds he sustained and his right arm cut off, Masanori knew he was no match for the thieves and was about to accept his defeat when he was saved by an unknown kunoichi. Appearing out of nowhere, the woman was able to defeat the rival group with ease before she carried him off to safety.

The man woke up a week later, only to discover that he was in Amegakure, a village far from his home. The woman who saved him introduced herself as Fumiko Yamazaki, a member of the Amegakure ANBU and a Mahō Shōjo. She nursed him back to health for months, even helping him overcome the loss of one of his arms. They fell in love during this period and resulted in Fumiko becoming pregnant with Masanori's child. Once he has fully healed, he urged her to come with him back to Kumo where he promises to marry her and she accepts.

They were welcomed into the village and Masanori fulfills his promise to Fumiko by marrying her a few days after their arrival. A few months would pass and she would soon give birth to their eldest child whom they named Reiha. She would have a younger brother named Hiroaki two years after her birth.

Reiha was loved by her parents dearly and they raised her well. Her father taught her with the ways of the ninja at a young age while her mother often encourages her in everything she does, telling her that she can do anything if she put her heart into it. She also manifested her Kekkei Genkai early, being able to manipulate the weather with her emotions at the young age of four. Her father stepped up to aid her in controlling her abilities; she also got help from her father's brother and her cousins.

It was her mother who suggested that they enroll Reiha into the Academy and she soon started studying the curriculum, becoming a genin at the age of six and ascending to chūnin when she was nine. Her mother was truly proud of her while her father shifted his attention to his brother. Fumiko then decided to teach Reiha one of the fighting styles she had known ever since she was still serving in the Amegakure ANBU, something she never revealed to Masanori before. In secret, the woman taught Reiha Paper Ninjutsu, showing her the basics to the technique and pushing her to train hard each night.

However, Fumiko's harshness surfaced once the training went on. At first, she scolded Reiha when she failed at training then came the painful beatings. With the woman being a skilled medic, the marks she left on Reiha were soon gone by the time they finished, but it did not erase the memory in the child's mind. Each night, they would repeat this process until things went too far; Fumiko whipped Reiha repeatedly when she failed in doing her task. This caused the weather to change around them, with storm clouds bringing in rain and lightning that almost devastated the village.

Scarred

Alerted by the sudden weather change, Masanori went out to find her wife and daughter, worried that they might be in danger because of the strange weather. It was then he found them, with Reiha, all bruised and wounded, cowering in a corner with her mother shouting at her to stop the rains and lightning. The man tried to stop Fumiko when she fled the scene but she got away, never to be seen again. The Amekaze male let her go despite his rage and went to get her daughter to have her healed up, though the abuse had scarred her not only physically but also emotionally and mentally. He blamed himself for not being able to give her daughter enough attention after her younger brother was born, so he vowed to give them equal treatment from then on. He became overprotective of Reiha starting that time.

Hiroaki also vowed to protect her sister, seeing her as an inspiration when it comes to strength and resilience. It brought the Amekaze family closer than ever before and they gradually learned to get over the painful memory. Reiha did not hinder herself with the experience and pushed through with her career as a kunoichi, taking the Jōnin exams and passing with flying colors at the age of thirteen. She trained alongside with her younger brother so she can master their Kekkei Genkai.

友人, Yūjin

Reiha found satisfaction in the company of her brother and other males, often training and goofing off with them as if they were family. She felt safe with them and had been somewhat tomboyish during her early teenage years because of their influence. Her father would often tell her to be a bit more lady-like, but Reiha found it hard to do so; she felt more free when she did not act all prim and proper like any other female.

Her life had been uneventful until she met a girl her age; a half Uchiha, half-Yūdoku girl named Mion who traveled around with her mother. Their first meeting did not go well, for Mion was bitter because she worries a lot for her mother, who was sick at that time. She called Reiha a heartless person and pushed her away knowing the Amekaze girl cannot help her. Being a stubborn one, Reiha shot back and called Mion rude, explaining that she was just trying to help out. However, she continued to be patient and tried to show the other girl kindness despite her brash treatment. Things would soon mellow down between them and they began to get along well.

After saying their apologies to each other, Reiha and Mion became friends, with Mion slowly opening up to the other girl. Unlike the boys she hung out with before, Reiha felt a bit more closer to the Uchiha female because she was of the same age and gender. They trained alongside each other and were inseparable.
